Process of identity development:
A. Requirements analysis for the graphic identity.
We determine all its uses (signage? web site? etc.), plus attributes of your
audience and your image. The process includes interviews and/or questionnaires.
You also provide me with samples of logos for other firms in your industry
(successful and unsuccessful).
B. Development of a logo.
During this phase, I present design alternatives, you give me feedback, and we
go through a couple of rounds of revisions. The "sketches" of alternatives are
developed pretty fully (since I use the computer).
C. Layout of stationery system (if desired).
I present layout alternatives for the stationery system (which may consist of
business cards, letterhead, mailing label, envelope, blank postcards, etc.). You give
me feedback, and we revise.
D. Production.
I will work with your printer to make sure we're delivering "plate-ready" files that
are technically correct for their set-up.
I deliver files (in various formats that we
agree on) for your use in desktop printing and web applications.

My creative process is driven by the requirements that we determine. We'll have
identified abstract concepts and concrete elements that could become part of your
visual identity.
I will show sketches that offer alternative ways of expressing these
through:
a graphic mark, which may include abstract shapes or iconic/pictorial elements
a type treatment of your name
an identity color scheme
Also, the feedback/revision process is critical, so that your team feels ownership of
the final identity.
